Five arrested after fight breaks out at a home in Stoke-on-Trent

Five people are in custody today after a fight broke out at a home in Stoke-on-Trent.

Officers from Staffordshire Police were called to the address on Wellfield Road in Bucknall at around 11:50pm last night (8 May) after a group of people were reported to be fighting.

One man was found with a head injury and one woman with an injury to her finger. The woman was taken to hospital and the injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Five people from Stoke-on-Trent were arrested: A 26-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman on suspicion of affray, a 29-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, a 35-year-old man on suspicion of assault thereby occasioning actual bodily harm and a 20-year-old man on suspicion of wounding with intent.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "At about 11.50pm last night (Thursday 8 May), we were called to a home on Wellfield Road in Bucknall after a fight involving a group of people was reported.

"When officers got to the scene, a man was found with a head injury and a woman with an injury to her finger.

"The woman was later de-arrested taken to hospital for treatment. All of the men are still in custody today (Friday 9 May).

"None of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

"Our investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to get in touch by calling 101 or using Live Chat on our website, quoting incident 807 of 8 May.
