Filming is taking place in a Stoke-on-Trent town.
Equipment and film crews have been spotted at the Queen's Theatre in Burslem today.
A letter to residents of nearby Jenkins Street, Burslem, said: "The television show is a six-part drama being made by Kudos for the BBC which centres around the lives of families in the 1950s.
"Filming would not be possible without the help of businesses and residents. We thank you in advance for your kindness and patience. We hope this can be an exciting and positive event for the local area.
"As always, we will have security guards with us 24 hours a day as well as members from the locations department who will be liaising with residents and members of the public during the prep and filming days. We are working closely with Staffordshire Film Office and Stoke-on-Trent City Council."
Recent productions from the television production company Kudos, include This Town (BBC One) Grantchester (ITV) and SAS: Rogue Heroes (BBC One).

There are plans to transform the Queen's Theatre into a music and arts venue celebrating Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister after a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Stoke-on-Trent City Council and the IFK Legacy Community Interest Company (CIC) as Project Lead.
Kudos and Stoke-on-Trent City Council have been approached for comment. The BBC have not commented.
