A drug dealer, who was caught after a pursuit in Stoke-on-Trent before drugs and a crossbow were found, has admitted offences in court.
Matthew Grieves, 27, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon in a public place at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court yesterday (Monday 2 March).
He also pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing on 29 January to possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B – cannabis, driving a motor vehicle dangerously and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance.
PC Brittany Astley, from the Staffordshire Police city proactive team, said: "Grieves put himself and others in harms way in his dangerous attempts to avoid being caught with the drugs and crossbow.
"We're determined to keep working proactively to target those involved in the supply of drugs across Staffordshire."
It comes after Grieves was spotted while driving a car on Furlong Road, Tunstall, on 27 January.
Staffordshire Police explained that an armed response vehicle tried to stop him, but Grieves carried on driving.
He was then involved in a minor collision with another vehicle before ditching the car on the roundabout of Reginald Mitchell Way and the A500 junction.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "A police dog quickly sniffed him out around a mile away from the scene of the collision, and he was arrested.
"When we searched the car, we found cannabis inside and a crossbow."
Grieves has been remanded ahead of his sentencing at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 29 April.
