Consultation events will be held to help people have their say on plans to build thousands of homes in Stoke-on-Trent.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council has launched a six-week public consultation on the latest version of its draft local plan, which will guide all development in the city up to 2040.

As part of the consultation, the council has organised a series of drop-in events, which will take place at venues across the city in August and September.

Attendees will be able to speak to planning staff about the plan and learn more about making formal representations.

Responses to the 'regulation 19' consultation have to focus on specific questions, such as whether the plan is legal, whether it is justified and based on evidence, and whether it complies with national policy.

Once the consultation is over, all responses will be submitted for examination along with the final draft version of the plan.

The plan includes 70 site allocations for housing to help the council meet its government-set target of delivering 952 homes a year.

Consultation events will be held in Lightwood and Packmoor – two areas with hugely controversial site allocations on greenfield land – as well as Norton, Trentham and Ball Green.
