Plans to turn another disused Stoke-on-Trent city centre building into flats have been approved.
Hallpark Construction Ltd has been granted prior approval for the conversion of Ringway House, in Hanley, into 18 self-contained apartments.
The vacant office building, in Bryan Street, which was previously occupied by Peach Data Services, was hit by a fire in April of this year. Police initially treated the incident as arson but later dropped their investigation.
The plans will see the building's basement, ground floor and first floor converted into one and two bedroom flats. Similar proposals were blocked by Stoke-on-Trent City Council earlier this year, partly due to one of the flats being below the minimum space standard of 37 square metres.
Under the revised plans, the layout of the ground floor has been altered to address this issue. Officers have approved the new plans, subject to soundproofing measures being implemented before the flats are occupied.
Ringway House will be the latest city centre building to be turned into homes. The city council has previously backed proposals for the former Hanley police station and Chicago Rock Cafe, while flat conversion plans have also come forward for Blackburn House and the former City Central Library.
