A council has put off making decisions on plans for two battery storage sites.

Planning committee members at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council were due to consider applications for the battery energy storage systems at Greenfields, near Bagnall, and Tean Leys Farm, near Lower Tean.

But both applications were deferred to a later meeting. The Greenfields application for a BESS on a Green Belt site off Thorney Edge Road was deferred so that concerns about vehicle movements can be addressed.

Planning officers had recommended the scheme for approval, despite the council receiving around 50 objections.

Objectors raised concerns over the loss of Green Belt land and the growing number of BESS developments in the area in recent years.

Meanwhile, the Tean Leys Farm application was also deferred, to allow consultation with East Staffordshire Borough Council. The application, which was also recommended for approval, included a small parcel of land within East Staffordshire.
