Crews tackle wildfire in Stoke-on-Trent

Crews have extinguished a wildfire measuring approximately 100 metres by 100 metres in Stoke-on-Trent.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called at 8.40pm on Wednesday (29 April) to Cocknage Road, Rough Close following reports of a fire.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Six appliances attended the scene and found a large area of shrubland well alight.

"The fire was extinguished using hose reel jets, a wildfire hose, beaters and backpacks and nobody was reported injured."

Crews remained at the scene overnight to dampen down hotspots before leaving at 7.30am yesterday (Thursday 30 April).
