Crews tackle fire at 'derelict' Stoke-on-Trent building

Firefighters tackled a "large fire" involving a derelict building in Stoke-on-Trent in the early hours of this morning.

It comes after crews were called to Aquinas Street, Stoke, following reports of a fire, at 1.10am today (Wednesday 8 April).

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Four appliances and the aerial ladder platform (ALP) attended the scene and found a derelict commercial building well alight.

"The fire was extinguished using the ALP and two main jets."

The service explained that an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
