A consultation is underway which could see up to 200 homes built in a North Staffordshire village.

Independent planning consultants, Emery Planning, are preparing to submit a formal planning application for the Blythe Bridge site.

The site on Uttoxeter Road is planned to have 48 per cent affordable housing, however, the final housing mix has not yet been determined.

The field is currently used as agricultural land and would deliver a minimum of 10 per cent biodiversity gain.

Residents are being asked to provide feedback on the scheme before plans are submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council later this year. Comments and ideas from the local community will help inform the final details before submission.

The site is located west of Blythe Bridge and is bound by existing development and a railway line. The development is planned to have new public open space, including local play areas and recreation routes.

The consultation states: "The development team has worked together to create a vision for the site and a concept masterplan has been prepared that responds to the character of the area. The scheme would be landscape-led whilst ensuring the effective and efficient use of the land to help meet unmet housing needs.

"The proposed development would provide much-needed family housing, including provision of 48% affordable housing.

"A range of services and facilities are located in the village within walking distance of the site. Public transport is also available with the local bus stop located immediately to the south of the site on Uttoxeter Road, with regular bus services between Blythe Bridge, Hanley and Newcastle and a single service to Cheadle.

"It is intended that an outline planning application will be submitted to the local planning authority for up to 200 dwellings. Details of access would be submitted at the outline stage. Other detailed matters relating to layout, appearance, scale and landscaping would be dealt with through a subsequent reserved matters application."

Residents have until 7 August 2026 to submit feedback on the plans.
