A community interest company is bringing the café in a Stoke-on-Trent park pavillion "back into action".

Tutorage CIC, will be running the café at the historic pavillion in Hanley Park when it reopens on Saturday (8 August).

The organisation works to support people who do not fit the traditional education system to learn, gain qualifications, develop new skills, volunteer, meet new people, and feel part of their community.

A spokesperson for Tutorage CIC said: "We are beyond excited to be bringing the Pavilion back into action.

"Our mission is simple - support people through experience and connection.

"You'll find a good brew and plate of biscuits, coffee and cake, milkshakes and flapjacks, all at affordable prices served by some friendly faces."

The opening of the cafe comes as a new kiosk has also opened in the park, which offers a range of items including children's toys, drinks and sweets.

The city council said that the ice cream van will also continue trading from the park.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council leader Jane Ashworth said: "This is fantastic news for Hanley Park and everyone who enjoys spending time there.

"The new businesses will enhance the visitor experience, offering even more reasons for families and residents to visit and make the most of everything the park has to offer."

The opening also comes as Hanley Park celebrates retaining its prestigious Green Flag Award, recognising the park as one of the country's best managed green spaces.

Cllr Ashworth added: "Retaining our Green Flag Award is a real achievement and shows the high standard visitors can expect. Welcoming new businesses is another positive step in ensuring the park continues to thrive as a destination for local people and visitors alike.

"Our teams have worked really hard behind the scenes to attract new businesses – we know how much having an eating space at the Pavilion has meant to visitors, so please join us in giving them a warm welcome and plenty of support."

The café will open at 8:30am on Saturday 8 August.
