Cadent Gas have apologised as a set of four-way temporary traffic lights continue to cause chaos on a busy Stoke-on-Trent road.

The lights were installed on Sandon Road, Meir, on 19 September and will be in place whilst Cadent carry out gas works.

Since the lights have been in place, traffic has been heavy in both directions - especially at rush hour - with one motorist telling Nub News it's because "the lights don't stay green long enough".

The lights are expected to be in place until 16 October (Nub News).

Councillor Faisal Hussain contacted Cadent about the traffic lights and the chaos they are causing.

A spokesperson said Cadent "apologised for the situation on Sandon Road.

"They are putting manual control onto the traffic lights for 7.00-9.30 and 15.00-19.00.

"The lights will be on green for longer on Sandon Road than on the side roads.

"They will monitor the traffic situation and if it is still an issue they are happy to manual control on it 7.00-19.00."

The lights are expected to be in place until 16 October.

Stoke Nub News has contacted Cadent for more information.
