A burglar stole over £6,000-worth of electronics and left a man needing surgery after targeting a Stoke-on-Trent business park multiple times.

Jason Battisson, 45, of no fixed address, hit a man with a saw after he was spotted on his final visit to the Hyde Park Trading Estate, off City Road in Fenton, in October last year.

Battisson first targeted the estate on 10 August 2024 but didn't take anything before he returned on 13 October and took an estimated £6,300-worth of electronic devices from a business there.

He also stole a bank card, phone and tablet from the home of a person he knew in Fenton.

On his final visit to the trading estate on 27 October Battisson made off with a toolbox - but was spotted and followed by a member of the public on City Road.

A man tried to stop him but was attacked by Battisson, who then hit his hand with a saw. The victim required surgery to repair a tendon in his hand after the attack.

PC Alex Woodcock, the officer in the case, said: "Battisson repeatedly targeted the same industrial estate with his prolific offending and caused significant damage to a victim who tried to stop him.

"We're determined to act robustly against those responsible for burglary, theft and robbery across Staffordshire, and this is another example of that commitment."

Battisson appeared at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Wednesday (10 September) and admitted four counts of burglary, one count of theft from the person of another and one count of wounding / inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 13 October.
