A brand-new fruit and veg shop has opened in Longton today (19 May) which prides itself on offering "good quality at reasonable prices".

MAW Fruit & Veg will provide the local community with a traditional pick-your-own fruit and veg selection as well as household essentials.

Owner, Mark Walker, told Stoke Nub News: "I'm born and bred in Longton and I fancied a change from my plumbing and electrical business so I decided to open a fruit and veg shop.

The shop was a fruit and veg shop previously, but sadly closed during the Covid-19 lockdown period (Nub News).

"All of the produce comes fresh from Manchester and Wolverhampton markets every morning and we will also be offering a free delivery service for the older generation who struggle to get to the shops.

"And if someone wants something which we don't stock, we're more than happy to get that in for them ready for the next time they come in - it's all about looking after the community."

MAW Fruit and Veg is open Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm.

MAW Fruit & Veg also aim to be as plastic-free as possible (Nub News).
