Body of man found at North Staffordshire reservoir

Staffordshire Police has confirmed the body of a man has been recovered from a North Staffordshire reservoir. 

Emergency services were called to Knypersley Reservoir on Sunday (9 March) at 4:30pm with fire crews later recovering the body from the water. 

Staffordshire Police believe the body to be that of a missing 74-year-old man, Malcolm, from Lask Edge who had been missing since January. Formal identification is yet to take place. 

A spokesperson from the Staffordshire Moorlands Local Policing Team said: "Officers recovered the body of a man from a reservoir earlier today (Sunday 9 March).

"We were called at 4.30pm to Knypersley Reservoir off Greenway Bank in Biddulph.

"Officers attended along with colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

"Sadly, the body of a man was recovered from the water by fire crews.

"We are not treating the death as suspicious.

"We believe the body to be that of missing 74-year-old man, Malcolm, from Lask Edge near Biddulph Moor. Formal identification will take place in due course.

"His next of kin have been informed and a file will shortly be prepared for HM Coroner."
