Body of boy found in Staffordshire lake search

Staffordshire Police has confirmed that a body has been recovered in the search of Rudyard Lake today.

Police got a call shortly after 9.30pm last night (24 February) that three young men, believed to be about 17-years-old, were spotted in the water.

Two of them managed to get out and were taken to hospital.

Over the course of last night and today, specialist teams have been searching the area. A number of volunteers from Staffordshire and Cheshire Search and Rescue Teams also helped emergency services as part of their efforts.

This afternoon, just after 5pm, police sadly recovered the body of a 17-year-old boy.

His death isn't being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.
