City Central Library, based on Bethesda Street, Hanley, closed its doors this weekend ahead of the relocation of the Two Smithfield site.

The new site is not set to open until Septmber, but in the meantime some services are available from the Little Library Van, which will be based at Smithfield every Wednesday between 9:30am and 12:30pm.

Services include:

  • Collection of book bundles and specific book requests
  • Singing Bears sessions between 10:30am and 11am every Wednesday
  • Library membership signups
  • Sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge

Services will be available at Smithfield and Hanley Market whilst the library site is closed (Nub News).

Stoke-on-Trent City Council Leader Jane Ashworth, said: "This is an exciting time for our library service, with the move of City Central Library and a more modern site at Two Smithfield.

"In the interim, we will still offer a number of library services via the Little Library Van on Smithfield on Wednesdays, plus digital support sessions from Hanley Market.

"Anyone who wishes to sign up to the Summer Reading Challenge after the closure will be able to do so from the Little Library Van, our five other library sites or at the Tales in the Park events we will be teaming with Stoke Reads on.

"We look forward to re-opening City Central Library at Two Smithfield in September."
