The public are invited to help shape the future of healthcare research in North Staffordshire at a series of events in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Staff from Keele University's Clinical Trials Unit are running a monthly community drop-in session at Keele in Town, based on Ironmarket, where members of the community are invited to share their experiences and views on healthcare research.

The iNSPIRE Community Lounge, which is held on the last Wednesday of every month between 10am and 12pm, is designed to offer a relaxed environment for patients, the public, and researchers to have meaningful conversations, and pursue opportunities for collaboration and community-building around health research related topics.

The CTU aims to take the feedback from these sessions to inform their research strategy going forward, to ensure that the healthcare research taking place at Keele reflects the needs of the communities the university serves, to ensure it has the biggest positive impact it can.

Steff Garvin, trial manager from Keele CTU said: "Whether you have personal experience with healthcare services, an interest in research, or simply want to connect with others in the community, you're warmly welcome to drop in.

"We provide free hot drinks and biscuits, and a relaxed atmosphere where every voice matters.

"It's an opportunity to learn about the latest research happening in your community, meet with members form the Clinical Trials Unit at Keele, and find out how you can get involved or have your say on what matters most to you.

"By joining us, you can help make local health research more relevant, inclusive, and impactful."
