Theatre to honour D-Day veterans with heartwarming show in Stoke-on-Trent

A heartwarming show in homage to the resilience and human spirit of D-Day veterans is returning to the stage at a Stoke-on-Trent theatre in April.
The Magnificent Seven at the Stoke Rep Theatre follows seven spirited D-Day veterans residing in a Brighton nursing home as they embark on a bold mission to escape their confines and return to Normandy for the 50th anniversary of D-Day.
The production is based on real-life stories primarily of Bernard Jordan who 'escaped' from his nursing home to attend the 70th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy.
The show is as poignant as it is funny and will be performed by the Stoke Rep Players at The Stoke Rep Theatre from Tuesday 8 to Saturday 12 April 2025 at 7:30pm each evening, with a matinée performance at 2:30pm on Saturday.

The Magnificent Seven was first performed at the Rep 10 years ago — staged by the writers Catherine O'Reilly and Tim Churchill and for this version Jane Procter is co-directing along with Cathrine.
In a sweet gesture, the character names have been changed to reflect the names of the actors who first played the role.
Stoke Rep Players is the in-house theatre company of the Stoke Rep Theatre, producing a programme of five quality theatrical productions each season with an outstanding history of over 100 years as a leading force in the artistic culture of the area.
Directors Jane Procter and Catherine O'Reilly have included themes of honour, loss, love and laughter, with these unsung heroes proving that you're never too old to be magnificent.

The organisers say this isn't just any play; it's an homage to resilience and the enduring human spirit but also expect some laughs along the way. The Magnificent Seven melds the gravity of history with the levity of life's small joys.
Tickets for all performances are available online by clicking here, direct from the Players Box Office (01782 209784), or by email from [email protected].
