An award-winning Stoke-on-Trent chef has been named as a finalist in the English Curry Awards.

After being shortlisted, Muhammad Aaban Aamir Ali of Ali's Kitchen Bar & Restaurant in Longton will now go up against other top contenders at a prestigious ceremony in Birmingham in August.

The popular Bangladeshi and Indian eatery opened as a takeaway in March 2022 before opening a large restaurant area six months later.

Ali's Kitchen has won a whole host of awards and most recently, Muhammed was recognised as Best Chef of the Year 2024 at the national Curry Life Awards 2024.

Head Chef Muhammad told Stoke Nub News: "We make the classics but also something different as well because we want to give our customers something new.

"There's always new dishes coming because we want to provide something customers have never tried before - we have our guaranteed sellers but also something different such as our lamb shank."

The English Curry Awards are an annual celebration of the nation's curry houses and stars.

They honour the remarkable talents and dedication of individuals and establishments within the curry industry. They will also showcase the unrivalled skills and creativity of chefs, restaurateurs, and takeaway services across the nation.

A spokesperson for the 14th English Curry Awards 2025 said: "These Awards promise to be a memorable event that honours the dedication and hard work of the nominees and celebrates the rich tapestry of flavours that the curry industry brings to the English culinary landscape."
