Quality/Safety Engineer - Newcastle under Lyme, Stoke on Trent

As the QSE Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining company ISO Management Systems and standards, identifying areas for improvement and coordinating improvement initiatives.

Ensuring compliance with safety regulations, assessing potential risks and implementing effective safety protocols.

Documenting and maintaining records relating to compliance with EU Regulation 2023/988 on General Product Safety, REACH, Conflict Minerals, Sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage company ISO 9001/14001 Management Systems
  • Conduct Management System audits against ISO 9001/14001
  • Manage and contain non-conforming parts and processes
  • Perform inspection activities as required
  • Maintain and enforce Health and Safety policies
  • Conduct Health and Safety Risk Assessments and Audits
  • Produce Health and Safety Method Statements and Plans
  • Maintain COSHH assessments
  • Maintain Fire Risk assessment
  • Maintain safety awareness training sheets
  • GPSR related responsibilities
    • Product Design and Production: Ensure products meet safety standards.
    • Conduct thorough risk assessments.
    • Maintain technical documentation and a Declaration of Conformity (DoC).
    • Verify product safety through necessary testing.
    • Implement systems for product traceability throughout the supply chain.
    • Notify authorities of safety issues and take corrective actions.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of IS0 9001/14001 Management System requirements
  • Experience in conducting Management System Audits
  • Experience conducting Health and Safety Assessments and Audits
  • Experience of quality tools such as Fishbone Diagrams, Control Charts, Histograms
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills (written and oral) at all levels
  • Ability to understand and read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Current full driving licence

Qualifications:

  • Level 4 in Quality/Engineering
  • Recognised Health & Safety qualification
  • ISO management system audit trained
