Location:Stoke-on-TrentCommutable from Staffordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire, and the West Midlands all within a 1 hour drive
Company Overview:
Our client is a well-established manufacturing company specialising in components for heavy trucks and Off Highway machines, including major brands such as Scania, Volvo, DAF, Leyland, Daimler, MAN. and JCB Following recent contract wins worth£1.3M, they are expanding their team and upgrading their facility withDNG Mori and Doosan machines. Despite a workforce reduction last year, the company remainshighly profitablewith a strong outlook for growth, now actively doubling itstechnical teamto meet production demands.
The business operates 24/7, with production staff working4 days on, 4 days off, whilemanagement and senior engineers, including this position work a standard schedule
Role Overview:
This is a crucial role within the company, working closely with the currentEngineering Manager, who is gradually reducing their hours toward retirement. The selected candidate willeventually step into this senior role, overseeing the CNC milling function and playing a pivotal role in the company's long-term success.
The company has won significant new contracts and needs toincrease output from 2 to 4 parts per week, requiring an experiencedCNC Miller with strong programming abilitiesto help optimise production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- ProgrammingFanuc-controlledCNC mills usinglonghand programming.
- Setting up new parts from scratch, includingfixture set-up and component prove-out.
- Providingtechnical supportto the factory and working closely with the quality team.
- Assisting in defining machiningmethodsfor new components.
- Estimatingpart cycle timesto improve efficiency.
- Understandingprocess capabilityand ensuring high-quality output.
- PreparingOperator Quality Plansfor serial production.
- Representing the company in discussions withcustomers and their clients.
Requirements:
- Apprentice-trained CNC Miller(preferred) with hands-on experience inprogramming, setting, and operatingCNC milling machines.
- Proven experience in Fanuc programming.
- Ability to workindependently and collaborativelywithin a technical team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for precision engineering.
- Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment, ideally withheavy truck component production.
- A candidate looking for careerprogression into an Engineering Managerrole would be highly advantageous.
Working Hours:
- Monday - Thursday:08:00 - 16:45 (30-minute unpaid break)
- Friday:08:00 - 13:00
- Overtime available
