About the Service - Smithfields

Smithfields is a supported living service which provides care and support for people with learning disabilities and/or autistic spectrum disorder who enjoy a wide range of hobbies from Bowling and Swimming to Dance and Music.,There is easy access to public transport and it is close to local shops.

Service User Interests

The people we support enjoy a wide range of activities, and Support Workers play a vital role in enabling these experiences, including:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Days out such as Theme Parks, Meals out, Social activities, Christmas markets etc.
  • Holidays and short breaks
  • Walks in the local park and community
  • Cooking and baking to develop life skills

The Role

You will:

  • Deliver person-centred support in line with individual support plans
  • Assist with daily living skills and personal care where required
  • Promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing
  • Support activities, appointments, and community access
  • Maintain accurate records and work effectively as part of a team
  • Work a rota including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking people who are caring, patient, and respectful, with a positive and resilient approach. You should be confident working independently and within a team, have good communication skills, basic IT and written abilities, and be flexible and reliable.

No previous experience? No problem! If you have the passion, we'll provide full training and a structured induction programme.

Requirements

  • Willingness to work towards Level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Ability to work unsociable hours on a rota basis
  • Drivers desirable but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS required (paid for by CareTech)

The aim is to provide homes for children and young people who would not be able to access standard foster care, but could, if adequately supported, make the transition to a family environment.As children and young people coming out of residential care usually have a range of challenges, only one foster child can be placed with a family at any one time.We understand how difficult it is to foster so we place a great emphasis on valuing our carers and offering them the tools to become therapeutic parents and part of a professional community. We offer up to 62 nights respite per year, generous financial allowances, fortnightly carer days, 1 to 1 therapy sessions, a mobile app to make their recording easy, a bespoke training package, and a 24/7 telephone support service.Supervising Social Workers, Family Support Workers & Therapists have small caseloads to allow time for stability and trust.We are a small and nurturing agency who is committed to finding well matched and planned homes for children and young people.Transition and matching is a key strength of Evergreen Foster Care, and time is taken to get to know the children and young people before they move in.Due to recent growth, we are looking for a new Full-Time Supervising Social Worker.Our head office is in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent but travel is an essential part of the role, as we now have families in Staffordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire, West Midlands and Liverpool.30 days Annual Leave per year, and an extra day for Birthday following 1 Year of Employment. Key responsibilities: As a Supervising Social Worker, you will be responsible for: Supervising a small case load of fostering families. Completing Form F assessments and supporting the applicants to Panel. Support the agency in delivering our robust training and support package to new applicants and approved foster carers. Undertaker foster carer reviews and present to the Panel. Ensure records are kept up-to-date. Intuitive Care helps to reduce unnecessary administration as we believe in keeping things simple yet efficient! Supporting foster carers to maintain their own record keeping. Our foster carers also use Intuitive Care to reduce their administrative responsibilities. Assist the Registered Manager and therapy team in training and reflection sessions with foster carers. Support foster carers at meetings. Participate fully and flexibly in the on-call telephone rota. Be able to manage one's own time and be aware that flexible working hours will sometimes be essential as training, events & panel meetings can be scheduled on weekends. Attend supervision, team meetings and staff days and prepare adequately. Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance. Be proactive in matters relating to child protection and health and safety. Work with team members to achieve a warm, familial, therapeutic atmosphere. Promote the ethos and model of Evergreen at all times. Requirements of the Supervising Social Worker: BA Hons SW, CQSW, DipSW or equivalent. Membership of relevant professional body. Experience of working with children and young people is essential. Full UK Driving Licence and have a vehicle. Proven track record of delivering successful outcomes for children. Successful management of competing priorities. Excellent ICT skills. Excellent record keeping. Passionate about children been able to experience family life.
