Part Time 0.7 FTE – Fixed Term until 31.03.2027

We are looking for a motivated team member to join the research team led by Dr Roberto Galizi at Keele University.

The successful candidate will contribute to an exciting project in collaboration with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Imperial College aimed to develop new gene editing technologies, involving the use of new CRISPR tools, to combat the spread of vector borne diseases such as malaria.

The post holder will provide technical support with molecular procedures, mosquito rearing/transformation and their genetic and phenotypic characterisation in the laboratory.

The successful candidate will hold either a HNC or NVQ Level 4 qualification or have equivalent experience. Experience of working in a laboratory setting is desirable along with theoretical and practical knowledge of standard molecular biology techniques such as molecular cloning, DNA/RNA/Protein extraction/purification, PCR/qPCR and gel electrophoresis.

Previous work experience using insects, and/or genetic engineering technologies in insects or model organisms and practical knowledge of CRISPR is also desirable.
