Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and highly skilled Optometrist to join our team. This is a part-time role where you will be responsible for providing excellent eye care to patients, performing eye examinations, contact lens fittings, and managing minor eye conditions. You will work alongside a skilled team to maintain clinical standards and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities:

Conduct eye examinations for patients, including checking vision and diagnosing eye conditions.

Provide expert advice to patients on eye health, treatment options, and lifestyle recommendations.

Carry out contact lens fittings and follow-up consultations to ensure optimal patient care.

Work closely with other team members to maintain departmental standards and ensure operational excellence.

Support in the development of new patient services that address current and evolving healthcare needs.

Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring they comply with clinical standards and data protection regulations.

Provide coaching and support to junior team members, helping them develop their clinical skills.

Stay current with the latest developments in optometry, incorporating new practices and technologies into your work.

Take responsibility for patient care from initial consultation to follow-up, ensuring a positive experience at every stage.

Team Development:

Collaborate with team members to ensure clinical standards are met and exceeded.

Assist in the training and development of junior colleagues, fostering a positive learning environment.

Provide support in the implementation of new patient services and contribute to ongoing improvements within the department.

Actively engage in team meetings to contribute ideas for the improvement of patient care services.

Share clinical knowledge with the team and mentor less experienced staff members.

About You:

We are looking for an Optometrist who:

Is a fully qualified Optometrist registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).

Has NHS performer status (or equivalent) and is in good standing with the relevant health board or area team.

Holds MECs or WECs accreditation (or is willing to obtain it within 12 months of joining, with support and funding provided).

Is committed to continuing professional development (CPD) and staying up to date with the latest advancements in eye care.

Has a passion for delivering excellent patient care and creating a positive experience for all patients.

Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.

Is proactive in developing new patient services and improving the overall patient experience.

Has the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.
