Operations Manager - Energy from Waste

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the efficient operation of an Energy from Waste facility in Stoke-on-Trent. Your role will involve ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and safety standards, while maintaining high-quality performance in operations.

Responsibilities of an Operations Manager:

  • Efficiently manage waste disposal, steam and electricity generation, and oversee weighbridge functionality and vehicle cleanliness.
  • Ensure strict adherence to legal, regulatory, quality, and safety standards, control the Permit to Work system, and act as Safety Controller.
  • Supervise, support, and motivate staff, ensure competency, and develop clear procedures.
  • Investigate emissions/incidents, implement corrective actions, and report/address violations of safe working practices.
  • Liaise with contractors, maintain accurate data reporting, and foster strong relationships with all departments.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in managing and motivating teams, ensuring effective supervision and support.
  • Demonstrated ability to enforce safety standards, conduct risk assessments, and maintain high safety behaviors
  • Experience with steam-to-energy systems, high-pressure boilers, and familiarity with high-voltage electrical work (desirable).
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, with relevant training and experience.

What this is offering:

  • A salary of 50,000 - 55,000/annum
