Are you a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer passionate about keeping vital systems running smoothly? A leading company is seeking a reliable and experienced professional to join our on-site engineering team at a busy train maintenance depot in Barton-under-Needwood. The Role As our Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring the operational excellence of a wide range of mechanical systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on diverse mechanical systems and equipment.
- Inspecting, repairing, and replacing components such as pumps, motors, vacuum systems, fueling equipment, valves, bearings, and seals.
- Diagnosing faults in heavy-duty plant and depot support systems.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting vacuum and fuel delivery systems.
- Ensuring all work strictly adheres to HSE regulations and site safety procedures.
- Participating in a 1-in-5 call-out rota with enhanced standby and overtime rates.
- Keeping accurate records of completed works and parts used.
- Collaborating effectively with site supervisors, engineers, and other maintenance personnel.
- A recognised mechanical engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds).
- Proven experience working on pumps, motors, and industrial mechanical systems.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of working within a safety-critical or industrial environment (e.g., rail, water, heavy plant).
- Excellent communication and teamworking skills.
- A willingness to join the 1-in-5 call-out rota.
- Competitive salary of £46,000 £47,000 per annum.
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays.
- Static site no travel required between locations.
- 1-in-5 call-out rota with a £150 standby payment and a minimum of 4 hours paid at 1.5x rate for call-outs.
