The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Teaching Fellow in Chemistry to join the teaching team at Keele University. This is a 1.0 FTE position offering an opportunity to contribute to the delivery and development of high-quality teaching across our Chemistry and Forensic Science programmes.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting an excellent student learning experience, with particular responsibility for chemistry teaching within our laboratory programmes.

You will lead and support practical teaching across Chemistry and Forensic Science laboratories, helping students to develop their practical, analytical and problem-solving skills in a supportive and engaging learning environment.

The post holder will contribute to the planning, development and delivery of laboratory classes, tutorials and other teaching activities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

You will work collaboratively with academic and technical colleagues to ensure that laboratory teaching is effectively organised, delivered safely and aligned with programme learning outcomes. You will also contribute to the assessment of laboratory-based learning, including the development and delivery of practical assessments, marking and providing timely, constructive feedback to students.

The role will involve supporting the evaluation and enhancement of existing teaching and assessment practices and contributing to the development of new learning activities and materials. In addition, you will provide academic and pastoral support to students, helping them to achieve their academic potential and contributing to a positive and inclusive student experience.

You will be encouraged to contribute ideas and expertise to the continued development of teaching within Chemistry and Forensic Science.

You will have a degree in Chemistry, Forensic Science or a closely related discipline, together with experience of teaching or supporting learning in a higher education environment. Experience of laboratory-based teaching and assessment would be particularly desirable.

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, a commitment to high-quality teaching, and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
