The Opportunity

We are seeking to appoint Lecturers in Counselling & Psychotherapy to contribute across our Counselling & Psychotherapy courses.

The appointees will make a contribution to the School's strategic ambitions and will have a key role in further developing the subject area of Counselling, as well as new opportunities for multi professional collaborations across research and education within the School of Medicine.

At Keele, we provide the following Counselling courses:

• BSc Psychology with Counselling
• Graduate Certificate in Counselling
• MSc Counselling and Psychotherapy (studied on either a full-time or part-time basis) accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

The courses are founded on a Rogerian, person-centred view of being a facilitator and person-centred ways of being. The core training offered by the programme is person-centred theory and practice.

Our starting point for the Keele Counselling courses is a unifying ethos which enables us to respect other professional skills and orientations. Additionally, the centrality of a secure and constantly reviewed ethical position, based on the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, is presented.

The successful candidate will be working within the Counselling & Psychotherapy staff team, making a key contribution to delivering, designing and developing our counselling modules.

Candidates will be a qualified counsellor or psychotherapist with knowledge and experience of being and teaching in a person-centred way. Candidates should ideally have knowledge and experience of a broad range of teaching methods and be able to demonstrate engaging and effective teaching and learning for students at undergraduate and post-graduate level. Including supervising MSc Dissertations
