We are currently seeking a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Stoke-on-Trent. The Role:We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide individualised and group support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will be working across different age groups, supporting their learning and wellbeing in line with individual education plans (IEPs). This is a rewarding role where you ll play a vital part in helping students reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:- Work closely with teachers to deliver personalised support for students with SEN, adapting resources and strategies to suit individual needs.
- Assist in implementing IEPs, ensuring that each student s unique requirements are met effectively.
- Support students across various age groups, fostering their confidence and independence in the classroom.
- Monitor and record students progress, sharing feedback with teachers, SENCOs, and parents as appropriate.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all students.
- Assist with personal care or mobility support when required, in line with school policies and training.
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Experience: At least 6 months of experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational setting.
- Qualifications: Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification are desirable but not essential.
- Training: Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures, as well as knowledge of common SEN needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff.
To be considered for the higher end of the salary bracket, candidates should demonstrate:
- Advanced SEN Experience: Extensive experience working with students with complex needs or in specialist SEN settings.
- Specialist Skills: Additional training or certifications, such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS, that enhance support for students with SEN.
- Adaptability: Proven ability to work effectively across multiple age groups and educational stages.
This role is based in Stoke-on-Trent, within a well-established school. The school is easily accessible by public transport and provides a welcoming, collaborative working environment.
