FOUR YEARS' FIXED TERM 1.0FTE (50% clinical NHS service and 50% academic)

The aim of the current posts is to to support a post-doctoral clinical academic to work within the School, to develop her/his skills and expertise, and become an independent researcher in either obstetrics and gynaecology or trauma and orthopaedics.

The post-holder will work within one of the areas of research excellence, in either obstetrics and gynaecology or trauma and orthopaedics, to publish research work in high-quality journals, and apply for research funding from grant-giving bodies to support own future research. Supervise postgraduate and undergraduate student research.

In O and G the role will involve working closely with the West Midlands Secure Data Environment and using the Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust/ Dexter maternity data platform to further research into learning health systems to improve maternity care. The role will focus on maternity disparity research.

In T and O the role will involve research related Musculoskeletal disease influences on Population Health utilising national (HES/CPRD) and/or local (RJAH Outcomes Centre/MyRecovery) data sets. Socioeconomic and ethnicity variations in demand, access and outcomes will be explored.

In addition, they will continue to work clinically within the NHS in England, in clinical Obstetrics and Gynaecology/ Trauma and Orthopaedics, for up to 5 Programmed Activities (PAs).

The post is open to applicants with skills and experience in any type of research or methodology.
