In November 2019, Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) became the first further education provider in England to achieve outstanding grades in every area of Ofsted's recently reformed Education Inspection Framework (EIF).

The inspection report praised all areas of the College's provision and acknowledged NSCG's 'positive, stimulating and safe learning environment', 'highly motivated staff', and 'learners' exemplary behaviour and attitudes to learning'. The group is currently home to a population of over 5,000 full-time students and around 300 students on higher education programmes. We have over 4,000 part-time or adult learners and 2,000 apprentices where we work with over 800 individual employers. Our Sixth Form provision has a reputation for high academic achievement and excellence.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our expanding team at Newcastle College. This role will involve the placement, assessment and monitoring of students on our Electrical Installation courses as well as developing effective working relationships with a range of providers.

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant qualifications in the field of Electrical Installation and have substantial experience of working in that Sector:

Main Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • To develop and maintain relationships with local employers to develop placement opportunities and monitor students whilst attending these placements.
  • Ensure a minimum of 3 workplace observations and assessment of placement diaries/workbooks are completed per year are completed.
  • Marketing for all employer opportunities and T Level students placements, attend open events, support school liaison and CPD sessions within curriculum teams.
  • To screen all such potential placement providers to ensure they have a clear understanding of the obligations in respect of students.
  • To draw up individual placement plans for students, and to regularly review progress.
  • To ensure that all students receive a comprehensive and thorough induction programme both from the College and their placement.
  • Be a counter signatory for DBS checks (if required)

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Holds a relevant qualification in your specialist area
  • Substantial relevant industry experience.
  • Holds English & Maths GCSE or equivalent.
  • Has the confidence and ability to approach and develop effective working relationships with a range of providers.
  • Has good administrative skills, well organised, able to keep accurate and easily retrievable records.
  • Holds a current driving licence and has use of a car.
  • IT literate, experience of using MS Office software and databases.
