This national-based client is seeking an experienced Financial Controller who will be working closely with the FD, the Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations within the Group of companies. The Financial Controller will maintain all financial systems, identifying areas that require improvement and implementing necessary changes to support business development. Alongside providing accurate and comprehensive reports on key aspects of financial performance. The Financial Controller will be committed to good governance and ensure that the Group complies with all financial and statutory regulations. This role will offer some hybrid work after the probationary period has passed. Key Responsibilities for the Financial Controller:
- To supervise the preparation of month-end accounts and VAT returns
- Ensure the completion of bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage the audit process and liaise with external personnel
- Oversee the preparation of year-end statutory accounts
- Manage, mentor, and motivate the Finance team
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Budget analysis and inter-departmental support
- Contribute to financial strategy and decision-making process
- Undertake and provide timely and accurate financial statements, analyses, reports, and recommendations
- Ensure robust financial systems and processes are in place and optimised
- To oversee tax and compliance
- Develop forecasting models (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow)
- Ownership of, and responsibility for, Credit management together with all reporting
- Provide hands-on support to implement change, improve performance, and increase business value
- Develop and maintain detailed costing and pricing models for all key services and expenditure
- To support with any key, strategic FX activities.
- Manage and foster all key relationships including financial partners, institutions, auditors, and other key external stakeholders relevant to the role
- Represent the business/Finance department in financial and/or business meetings as required
- Together with the FD, foster a culture of accountability and professionalism within the Finance function
- Together with the FD, co-liaise with the Technical Director to implement modern finance technologies and practices to optimise efficiency as well as support current activities and future growth
- Ensure the group operates within all financial regulations and complies with all statutory reporting requirements
- Stay updated with industry trends, changes in regulations, and best practices
- Professionally qualified and highly experienced the experience of a pan-European group structure
- Strong business acumen and understanding of financial issues min £50million t/o business
- Ideally FMCG background
- Excellent working knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Strong IT and people-management skills preferably with Sage Intacct and/or systems upgrade experience
- Preferred background includes Acquisitions, Private Equity, and experience of having worked for an Owner/Operator
- Excellent communicator, with both internal and external colleagues at all levels

- Ability to analyse and make recommendations, alongside the capacity to drive through key business changes
