In May 2020, a stand-off between a small-town sheriff (Joaquin Phoenix) and mayor (Pedro Pascal) sparks a powder keg as neighbour is pitted against neighbour in Eddington, New Mexico. Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal lead as the rivals, joined by the likes of Emma Stone and Austin Butler, in Aster's darkly comic and highly strung look back at the COVID-19 pandemic.
