Dead of Winter (15)

Emma Thompson stars in an enjoyable suspense thriller as Barb, the widowed owner of a small fishing tackle store on a pilgrimage to Lake Hilda, in remote northern Minnesota, where she has returned to scatter the ashes of her recently deceased husband in the place of their first vacation together.

Lost in a blizzard among backroads near the lake she discovers an isolated cabin and a young woman being held captive by a desperate armed couple.

Spurred on by the memory of her husband, but hours from the nearest town and without any cell phone service, Barb realises she is the young woman's only hope of survival. What follows is a merciless thriller that plays out in an epic wilderness, with a beautiful love story at its heart.

Full details and to book tickets online go to www.stokefilmtheatre.org.uk, or buy from the Box Office, open 7pm. Tickets £8.50, £7.50 concession, £5 young person (U26).
