Work has begun to build a new drive-thru fast-food restaurant on vacant land in Stoke-on-Trent.

Planning permission was granted for a Burger King restaurant on Staffs Industrial Estate, Fenton, around a year ago.

According to the application, the new restaurant will be built of red brick and open between 9am and 11pm Sunday to Thursday and between 9am and 12am on Friday and Saturday.

A Design and Access Statement submitted as part of the application said: "Originally the site was a colliery and occupied for many years by the various guises of the Coal Board.

A planning application for the new eatery was approved around a year ago (Image via planning application).

"Since the site was vacated by the coal board around the mid-80s it has had various industrial uses and was acquired by the current owners Staffs Fitness in 2017.

"Given that there are other drive-thru offers immediately adjacent to the site, this use sits comfortably amongst them and adds to the redevelopment of this prominent junction position."

Stoke Nub News has contacted Burger King for more information.
