Staffordshire Police are appealing for information after a stray dog attacked another dog and its owner in Stoke-on-Trent.

Police were called to Dimensions Leisure Centre in Burslem at 7.05am when the woman went inside and told staff she had been attacked by a dog.

She was walking her own dog nearby when another dog approached her. The dog was off the lead and didn't look like it was with anyone. It attacked the woman's dog and then bit her on the arm when she tried to stop it.

The dog then ran away. It was last seen on Haywood Road.

The victim, a woman in her 40s, went to hospital following the attack. She is not believed to have any serious injuries but was left shaken after what happened.

The dog was described as a mastiff-type breed. It was brown and was a medium-height.

Officers have been searching the area since it happened and speaking to people to find out if they know anything. No sightings of the dog have been reported since.
