Woman arrested after group seen with machetes in Stoke-on-Trent

A woman has been arrested after police seized a machete in Stoke-on-Trent.

Firearms officers were called to an alleyway off Berdmore Street, Fenton, at 9.20am on 14 August after a small group of people were seen with machetes.

A man and a woman were searched and a machete was found in the woman's rucksack.

The woman, aged 37, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife or sharp pointed object in a public place.

She has been questioned and released on police bail while the investigation continues.
