Two taken to hospital following stabbing in Stoke-on-Trent

Two people have been taken to hospital following an incident in Burslem this morning where a man was stabbed and a woman was assaulted.

Police were called to Dartmouth Street at around 2.40am when a small group of men attacked the couple inside their home.

The man was taken to hospital after suffering stab wounds to his back - his injuries aren't believed to be serious.

The woman was also taken to hospital but was not seriously injured.

Police were called to Dartmouth Street, Burslem, at around 2.40am this morning (Google).

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We've set up a cordon in the area while we continue to carry out enquiries to find out more about what happened.

"We are treating this is an isolated incident. Officers are progressing lines of enquiry at pace to identify those involved and gather evidence around the investigation.

"We think the four suspects went into the property sometime between 1am and 1.30am this morning.

"Officers are keen to speak to anyone with any information that can help us or those with CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage of the area at the time it happened.

"Call 101, quoting incident 45 of 21 March, or message us using Live Chat on our website."
