Two drug dealers have been jailed after police found cocaine and more than £10,000 hidden in a TV stand in Stoke-on-Trent.
Mikele Bilali, 26, of no fixed address, and Ervin Hasa, 25, of Boothen, Stoke-on-Trent, appeared at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday 2 October.
Bilali was handed a one-year-and-10-month jail term after admitting possession with intent to supply class A drugs, cocaine; driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.
Hasa was given a three-year custodial sentence after also pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs, cocaine; and possession of criminal property.
Speaking following sentencing, Chief Superintendent Steve Morrey, of the Staffordshire Police specialist crime department, said: "Bilali and Hasa were clearly involved in the supply of illegal drugs in Stoke-on-Trent and I am pleased they have been handed custodial sentences for their offending.
"We are determined to disrupt, pursue and prosecute those involved in drug dealing in Staffordshire and will continue to do all we can to get those responsible before the courts."
It comes after officers on patrol in the Boothen area of Stoke-on-Trent earlier this year, stopped a black Mercedes.
Staffordshire Police said the vehicle was being driven "suspiciously" by Bilali.
Hasa, who had come up to the car and interacted with Bilali, was also arrested.
When the car was searched, police discovered mobile phones linked to Bilali containing drug-supply related messages and a set of keys to a property occupied by Hasa.
The police force said Hasa was then shown to be in possession of 19 snap bags of cocaine.
A later search of a property revealed around £10,700 in cash hidden in a Gucci bag within a TV stand.
A further £1,000 was also found in a game case and more than 210 bags of cocaine.
When Bilali was searched in custody, 11 snap bags of cocaine were found in his trousers.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Overall, the total amount of drugs seized was 241 snap bags of cocaine, with a street value of around £9500, while the total amount of cash seized was more than £11,900.
"Though they each replied no comment in interview, both Bilali and Hasa later went on to be charged and admitted the offences in court."
