Two arrested after stolen Mini found hours after it was taken in Stoke-on-Trent

Two people have been arrested hours after a car was stolen in Stoke-on-Trent.
A 48-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, both from Newcastle-under-Lyme, were arrested after a Mini was stolen on Leek New Road at around 7:45pm yesterday (21 April).
The car was found by officers and a dog unit less than eight hours later on Pinnox Street in Tunstall and the man was also found with suspected counterfeit money.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "The theft happened at about 7.45pm yesterday (Monday 21 April) on Leek New Road when a Mini was stolen by a man and a woman.
"Officers from our road crime team worked hard to find the car along with a dog unit. It was spotted on Pinnox Street in Tunstall.
"A man, who was inside the car, was searched. We found suspected counterfeit money inside his bag.
"A 48-year-old man, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, has been arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and handling stolen goods.
"A 28-year-old woman, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, has been arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft.
"We're determined to act robustly against those responsible for theft, robbery and burglary across Staffordshire."
