Three more arrests made following death of a man in Stoke-on-Trent

Three more people have been arrested as part of an investigation into the death of a man in Normacot, Stoke-on-Trent.

Thapelo Jali, 21, died on 22 July in Normacot after being found in an alleyway off Buccleuch Road with serious injuries.

Five men have been charged with murder.

This morning (Monday 2 September), police carried out a number of searches alongside firearms officers in the Normacot area as part of an investigation.

A 35-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A 62-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A 27-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has also been arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of murder.

This morning, three more people were arrested in connection with the incident (Nub News).

Detective Inspector Ian Fitzgerald, from the major investigations department (MID), said: "We're continuing to work tirelessly to review all the evidence we have to act against those responsible for what happened.

"An increased police presence is expected to remain in the area throughout today while our enquiries continue."
