Temporary traffic lights will be installed on a major Stoke-on-Trent road next week whilst National Grid carry out roadworks.

Multi-way signals will be on Scotia Road between 8am on 13 January and 5pm on 17 January.

National Highways teams will be undertaking an excavation to replace and install a new link box.

Link boxes play a vital role in reducing the frequency of power cuts for homes and businesses. They offer flexibility to our underground low voltage electricity network by allowing circuits to be redirected in the event of a power cut.

A National Grid Electricity Distribution spokesperson said: "We'd like to thank motorists in Stoke for their patience while we undertake works to install a new link box on Scotia Road between 13 and 17 January.

"During this time, temporary traffic lights will be in operation. We know there's never an ideal time to undertake roadworks, but this is essential work to maintain the reliability of electricity supply for homes and businesses in the local area."
