Students at North Staffordshire school celebrate best ever GCSE results

A school in Newcastle-under-Lyme is celebrating its best set of GCSE results ever.
Newcastle Academy, on Gallowstree Lane, had its strongest set of GCSE results in the school's 57-year history today after becoming an academy in 2015 and joining the Windsor Academy Trust last year.
The school says students are now looking forward to progressing onto their chosen further education institutions.
Newcastle Academy pupil Grace achieved a grade 7 or above in eight subjects, she said:"I'm really, really happy with my results today. They mean I can do the course I want at college."
The school has thanked staff, parents and carers for supporting their children through secondary school which has resulted in this record-breaking year.
Will Trugeon-Smith, headteacher at Newcastle Academy, said: "This cohort of students is the most successful in the school's 57-year history.
"We are incredibly proud of the hard work, responsibility and resilience from our students that is reflected in these results.
"Their achievements will now help to shape their next steps and I would like to wish them all the best for their future.
"The dedication of our teaching and professional services staff has shone through in these results and they can all take pride in the difference they have made to this cohort of young people."
