A stretch of the A50 in Stoke-on-Trent has reopened after it was closed earlier today 'due to a vehicle fire'.

The A50 eastbound near Meir, between the slip roads at the Catchems Corner roundabout (A521) has reopened.

National Highways said: "There are no residual delays".

The closure was "due to a vehicle fire" and emergency services attended the scene.

National Highways said in a social media statement earlier today: "The A50 eastbound near Meir remains closed between the slip roads at Catchems Corner (A521) roundabout.

"The vehicle fire has resulted in an oil spill and damaged the carriageway."
