Three Staffordshire residents have been awarded prestigious personal Honours by His Majesty the King for their invaluable contributions to their local communities.
The honours system recognises people who have made achievements in public life or committed themselves to serving and helping Britain.
They'll usually have made life better for other people or be outstanding at what they do.
The winners were announced in the 2022 Birthday Honours list and received their medals from the Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Ian Dudson CBE KStJ on behalf of His Majesty the King.
The special ceremony was held last Tuesday (29 November) at County Buildings in Stafford.
The recipients were:
- Mrs Sheila Anne Cooper BEM, for Voluntary services in Staffordshire
- Mr Daniel Mark Kinsey BEM, for services to the community of Wombourne, particular during the coronavirus pandemic
- Maurine Elizabeth Recline BEM, for Voluntary services to young people through Girl Guiding UK and charity work in Staffordshire
Vice-Chairman of the County Council, Mr Phil Hewitt, hosted the ceremony.
He said: "It was a great privilege for me to host these presentations and honour these fantastic people from Staffordshire, who have done so much for our communities."
Sheila Cooper BEM said: "When I first started volunteering for St John Ambulance 32 years ago I would never have dreamed that I would be receiving such an honour as this.
"The satisfaction I have enjoyed over the years from helping other people has been immense and I would thoroughly recommend it to anybody."
