Stoke-on-Trent pub celebrating first anniversary with charity fundraiser
By Liana Snape 16th Aug 2026
A Stoke-on-Trent couple are set to celebrate one year of running a local pub with a charity fundraiser.
Anne and Simon Perry will mark one year since they took over The Park Inn in Dresden with a celebration raising money for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity on 30 August.
Although both publicans have experience working pubs, taking over The Park Inn on 18 August 2025, marked the first time the husband-and-wife team was able to run a pub themselves.
Anne – who has always wanted to run her own pub - described their first year as a "whirlwind".
She said: "The locals are absolutely fantastic. They're an absolutely lovely bunch and it's a popular pub.
"We have had to do a lot of work to pull it back, like getting it clean and things like that. But it's been worth it, and I wouldn't change it for the world. I love it."
The anniversary fundraiser will feature a range of activities and entertainment including food, a raffle and live music – all to raise money for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity

The pub, which is part of the Dorbiere pub group, was set a challenge by the brewery to raise money for the service, alongside the group's other West Midlands pubs.
The cause is particularly personal for Anne, who is also community first responder and currently training to be a paramedic.
Anne said: "For me it's perfect because obviously it follows suit with my career.
"It's definitely a charity worth fundraising for."
The couple also hope that the celebration will help bring members of the community together.
Anne added: "We're trying to make a real community pub again.
"I think we're doing a good job at getting the community back together, and hopefully something like this will just cement it a bit better."
