A Stoke-on-Trent man has been jailed after officers found nearly 300 indecent images of children on his mobile phone.

Aaron Michael Edwards, 42, was sentenced to one-year-and-eight-months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court today (Thursday 19 February) after he admitted making indecent photographs / pseudo-photographs of a child.

Staffordshire Police explained that officers went to a property in Stoke-on-Trent and arrested Edwards in April last year.

His phone was seized, and 291 category A images of children were found.

Detective Constable Anna Walklett, of the child exploitation team, said: "When Edwards was arrested, he admitted the phone was his, but denied having indecent images of children on it.

"We worked tirelessly to gather evidence against Edwards, which led to him later admitting the offence in court.

"We remain committed to tackling child sex offences across Staffordshire and will take robust action against those responsible."
