A Stoke-on-Trent high school is set to get a huge extension to facilitate rising pupil numbers in recent years.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council granted permission for the extension at Ormiston Meridian Academy, on Sandon Road, Meir, to go ahead today (23 June).

The extension will include a new two-storey building connected to the existing detached canteen dining hub building, 2.1m high fencing, landscaping and five additional car parking spaces.

This new building will have a canteen, kitchen, offices and five new classrooms with a link bridge to the first floor of the existing school.

The ground floor will consist of a canteen extension, four new offices, a kitchen and toilets (Wood Goldstraw Yorath).

The canteen dining hub building will be reclad along with part of the end of the existing school building which has become weathered to unify the new and old parts of the school, which were built only 12 years ago.
