Stoke-on-Trent Day set to return next month to celebrate city status anniversary

The second Stoke-on-Trent Day is set to be celebrated next month on the anniversary of Stoke-on-Trent receiving city status.
On 5 June 2026, locals will be encouraged to celebrate the history, culture, communities and identity of Stoke-on-Trent, 101 years after city status was granted by King George V in 1925.
The first Stoke-on-Trent Day was held last year during the city's Centenary celebrations, and the event is now set to become an annual celebration.
Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Councillor Joan Bell, said: "The first Stoke-on-Trent Day was a fantastic celebration of our city and the people who make it special.
"It brought people together and gave them the chance to celebrate everything they love about Stoke-on-Trent.
"I'd encourage everyone to get involved again this year, whether that's by holding a tea party, joining an event or simply taking a moment to celebrate our city and everything that makes it unique."
Following the success of last year's Big Centenary Tea Party, communities across the city are being encouraged to organise their own tea parties and share photographs on social media using '#SOTDay' and '#BigStokeonTrentTeaParty'.
Following the Big Centenary Tea Party, Stoke-on-Trent now officially holds the record for the most people simultaneously at a cream tea party after attendees consumed 777 full cups of tea and scones.
A new exhibition at Stoke Minster will also revisit the world record-breaking event through photography, film, sound and interactive displays.
Saltbox will also be hosting the Stoke-on-Trent Day Civic Prayer Breakfast at the King's Hall in Stoke where faith leaders, civic figures and community members are expected to come together to mark the occasion.
