A man who broke into a house in Stoke-on-Trent and stole a car has admitted his offences in court.

Jordan Lowndes, 21, of Meir, went into a house on Fraser Street in Burslem on 28 January. The keys to a Kia Sportage were taken from inside, along with £30 in cash from a purse.

After realising that someone was in the house, the victim called Staffordshire Police and officers later found the abandoned car in a field near Trowbridge Crescent in Bentilee.

Officers from the criminal investigations department worked to build a case file against Lowndes, who pleaded guilty to the offences at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday (22 April).

DC Daniel Trupp, from CID, said: "We're determined to act robustly against those responsible for theft, burglary and robbery across Staffordshire.

"Through this work, we've been able to reduce the number of burglaries, thefts and robberies between December 2023 and December 2024. A total of 35 less burglaries happened, along with 73 less thefts from the person and 109 less robberies when compared to the year before.

"More action will be taken against those blighting the communities we proudly serve on a daily basis."

A forensic analysis of the scene returned a number of matches to Lowndes. He was arrested and charged with burglary and aggravated vehicle taking.

He is due to be sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 27 June.
